Have you ever seen rust-red desert sand meet brilliant white beach sand and azure blue water? The ocean shouldn’t be touching a desert but at Francois Peron National Park which covers 52,500 hectares of arid shrublands, rolling sandplains and coastal scenery, exactly that happens.
Bottle Bay at Cape Peron – with its plunging red sea cliffs frame a coastal landscape with striking colour contrasts of red, white and blue. Bush camping, four-wheel driving and beach fishing are popular here in addition to swimming and boating.
Park and camping fees applicable and a high clearance four-wheel drive is essential for travel further north into the park to Bottle Bay due to the soft beach sand. Gas barbecues are supplied, wood fires are not permitted and visitors need to bring water supplies when visiting the park.
